-Backstory
I began practicing acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) after a career as an organic farmer in the Fraser Valley, California and Texas. I like to say that I went from cultivating the soil to cultivating the soul.

-TCM Education
I studied the intuitive side of TCM through taking a 3 year course in Medical Qi Gong Therapy and Instruction before getting my 4 year Acupuncture and Herbalism degree (RTCMP) at The International College of Chinese Medicine here in Vancouver.

-Treatment style
I enjoy the fusion of energetic work with bio-medicine. It gives me great joy to help people restore ease and comfort in their physical bodies, using a variety of TCM modalities including acupuncture, tui na (Chinese massage), cupping and herbalism, grounded in a working knowledge of orthopedics, physiology and anatomy.

-Qigong meets Acupuncture
My background in Medical Qi Gong Therapy (Chinese energy work) addresses the emotional and spiritual aspects of health. In TCM we believe that many chronic diseases have their origins in the emotional body. For example, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) or digestive upset may have its roots in suppressed anger and frustration. The attitude we have towards our injury or disease plays a critical role in how quickly and thoroughly we recover. Qi Gong fits together with acupuncture like a hand fits into a glove.

-Experience
Among the conditions that I have had success in treating are: neck and shoulder issues, lower back pain, joint mobility, arthritis, digestive disorders, neurological issues, depression, stress, anxiety, asthma, insomnia, post-Covid and post-vaccine complications and cancer.

Jacquie is a native Vancouverite.

She is a 1993 graduate from the West Coast College of Massage therapy. For the last 16 years, Jacquie has been practicing in a multidisciplinary clinic, which she co-owned, in downtown Vancouver. She is excited for this new opportunity to live and work in our Commercial Drive community.

Jacquie has taken many continuing education courses over the years. She tries to incorporate techniques that she has learned when applicable. Her primary treatment style is targeted deep pressure trigger point release with some deep Swedish massage, stretching, Muscle Energy Technique and occasionally some Cranioacral Therapy.

Her clients say that she listens to their needs and achieves results by finding & releasing points of tension that her clients don’t even know are there.

Jacquie works alongside her 2 year old yellow lab working guide dog named Gratitude. They both respectfully ask that you understand that Gratitude is also working while she is in the clinic and that you not engage with her while you are together in the treatment room. She is very good and lies on her rug most of the time, with the occasional stretch and reposition. It will be hard to resist her because she is a beautiful, sweet girl, however it is important to remember that Gratitude’s primary purpose is to insure Jacquie’s safety. Gratitude really likes to make friends which could ultimately jeopardize both of them in their travels.

Thank you, in advance, for your thoughtfulness & respect, from both of them. They are both looking forward to meeting you.

Jacquie will be starting at Trikinetic Massage Therapy Clinic at the beginning of March and will be available Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays. She is looking forward to being a part of your wellness journey.

I come from a family of health care professionals. Raised by a nurse, a obstetrician/gynecologist, a music therapist and a physiotherapist, I have a long-standing belief in the importance of working with the patient’s nervous system to most effectively treat the rest of the body, and I consider massage therapy a valuable part of that approach.

Since participating in an outreach program at BC Women’s Hospital, treating women with complicated pregnancies and recent post-partum mothers, I have had a strong interest in perinatal massage. As a former rock climbing coach, I’m also very interested in treating athletic injuries and helping anyone who wants to get active do so safely and without pain.

Massage therapy is a highly individualized experience; every body is different and every therapist is different. I want to work with each patient who comes to me to find out their specific wellness goals and what their body in particular needs to meet those goals.

Although I don’t consider myself truly bilingual, I do have some intermediate skill in conversational Japanese. It has been enough in the past to help make communication easier with Japanese patients who aren’t 100% comfortable communicating in English, so I would be happy to try and help patients who feel that way in the future as well!

During treatments, I use a variety of massage techniques, incorporating Swedish massage with myofascial release and gentle joint mobilizations. I also often use active stretching techniques. I recently took a post-graduate course on scar tissue management, and am excited to expand my therapeutic approach based on what I learned!

My hours at the clinic are Mondays 9AM to 6PM, Tuesdays 10AM to 7PM and Saturdays from 9AM to 5PM.

Blake first became interested in massage therapy as a career after receiving treatment provided a tremendous help overcoming an injury. Since then, he has been building on information acquired through receiving rehabilitative therapies for a variety of injuries to better understand his own health and to better understand the needs of his patients. Blake mainly utilizes Swedish massage and myofascial release techniques to address the wants and needs of his patients in a holistic manner.

He is inspired by water and how it relates to movement, body biomechanics and mental “flow”. Blake’s treatment style is slow, rhythmic and calming by nature but he isn’t afraid to offer deep pressure when needed. His interest in flow comes partly from his work as a visual artist, muralist and art educator as he draws artistic inspiration from anatomy and physiology. Working as an artist also allows him to approach massage treatments in a creative way. He‘s interested in treating patients with chronic pain conditions, depression and anxiety.

When he’s not working he spends his time in nature, eating good food and playing board games.

I graduated from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in December of 2006 and have been happily working at the Trikinetic Massage Therapy clinic since April 2007.

Before training in Canada, I studied at the London School of Sports Massage in England. One of the highlights of working in the UK was my time spent working with the England Surrey Cricket Team treating the players with sports massage before and after their matches.

I like to incorporate many of the different techniques that I have learned including deep tissue massage, myo-fascial release, neuro-muscular therapy, muscle energy techniques, pregnancy massage and passive and active stretches. Each treatment is tailored to the individual.

When I am not busy working at Trikinetic I keep myself busy at home raising two amazing humans. I also love to sing and do musical theater.. Presently I performing with the Broadway Chorus and I am also an active member of the Giggles and Gags sketch comedy group which performs yearly in the spring to raise money for local charities.

My hours of work are 7.45am - 2.15pm every Monday and Wednesday. I can direct bill to Pacific Blue Cross.

I chose this profession after being a Registered Nurse for six years because I was impressed by being able to focus on prevention and repair rather than intervention, as a health care practitioner.

I have been at Trikinetic since 1996 but graduated from the West Coast College of Massage in September 1992. I had the opportunity to work for 5 years in a multidisciplinary complementary medicine clinic with practitioners focused on health promotion, and practicing Massage Therapy alongside a team of traditional regulated practitioners using alternative methods.

My preferred massage techniques are Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial mobilizing, and Cranio-Sacral Therapy. My philosophy is that most healing occurs when the client is out of “stress mode” and their body is allowed to fix itself. Most people find treatments relaxing and even sedating. I try to include treatment to the whole body, if possible.

I am delighted to find my client base beginning to include more geriatric and pediatric clients. They are the least likely to recieve massage therapy, but we find extremely positive results. The elders are so glad to have relief from longstanding problems, and the young can prevent future problems as they are growing.

I have taken courses in myofascial release and scar tissue management. My interest in human anatomy study has prompted me to take two human anatomy disection workshops, and I have attended the two Body Worlds exhibits here in Vancouver.

I encourage patients to come for Massage Therapy every week for acute conditions, and every month for chronic conditions and maintenance.

I have been married since 2003 and have a house in Pitt Meadows. When I’m not at the clinic, I do gardening, yard and home repairs, and enjoy our dogs and cats. I love my rain barrels and rolling composter. I play hand-percussion at Golden Ears United Church, have taken Tabla lessons, and tried to study bass guitar briefly. I’m taking snare drum lessons and playing percussion in Maple Ridge Concert Band. I sing tenor, but not in a formalized choir or group. My favourite animal is the crow.

My 30+ years of Manual Therapy practice, Post Grad Education training and yoga practice, inform my life and work.

What do you need to work on to become healthier and more embodied?

The more I work with people the more I find that I am better able to hone in on problems. I am able to “listen” better to your body and what you need to heal. When I work with you I will encourage you to breathe into your body as we work through places that are causing pain & restriction and creating less than optimal health. I often suggest yoga postures, stretches or Hydrotherapy for you to do at home to continue the changes made during your session.

I use a combination of techniques including Muscle Energy Technique, Myofascial Release, Craniosacral Therapies, Stecco’s Fascial Manipulation concepts & Visceral Manipulation depending on what you need to help you feel more mobile.

Since graduating from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy, in Vancouver BC, in 1992, my clinical assessment skills & manual application of the above techniques have evolved. ********** When not at Trikinetic, I might be found walking in the woods with my lovely dog, in the garden, at a yoga class, skiing, swimming, biking, paddle boarding or kayaking. My favourite vehicle is my very old, but beautiful, pink Kona bike. *******************

In the Fall of 2023 I became a Certified Yoga Teacher (RYT200) and am pleased to offer 1 to 1 yoga sessions. If you wish to develop a yoga practice, or strengthen your current personal practice, a private session will support you in that direction. These are catered specifically for each individual’s needs. Acknowledging we all have different bodies, goals, challenges, and life journeys, I will support you in your practice. During a 1:1 we can focus on yoga asanas (poses), alignment, breath & meditation. I can provide a mat and props if you do not already have them.

I am also excited to now be offering Partner Massage Workshops, with other Trikinetic RMTs. These sessions are for people who would love to learn some skills to help their friends, family and loved ones relieve stress & body pain, with their own hands, at home. Please contact us if you’re interested.

After an amazing & long career, I am only taking new clients by referral through other clients or Practitioners.
